Anime Characters With the ISTJ Personality Type
What is the ISTJ personality type?
ISTJ is a personality type from the Four-letter Type Indicator. Each personality type consists of four letters, which stand for four key traits. For ISTJs, these traits are “Introversion,” “Sensing,” “Thinking,” and “Judging.” The ISTJ personality type is also known as The Logistician.
The main attributes of ISTJs are loyalty, organization, logic, and reliability. They like to play by the rules and follow routines. They’re also very straightforward and honest. ISTJ is the most common of all 16 personality types. Therefore, many of our favorite anime characters share this categorization.

Anime characters with the ISTJ personality type
Miles Edgeworth - Ace Attorney
Miles Edgeworth has a classic ISTJ career as a lawyer, specifically a chief prosecutor. ISTJs are big fans of law and order. Miles Edgeworth has had strong ISTJ traits ever since he was a child. In his younger years, he was diligent and hardworking, but he didn’t enjoy the attention and spotlight he got when winning awards for school work or his music.
This is typical for introverted ISTJs. He also had a small, tight-knit group of friends, specifically Larry Butz and Phoenix Wright, to whom he was incredibly loyal as a child.
Like many ISTJs, Miles Edgeworth was hardworking and reliable in his career. He reached many milestones at an early age and had a long-running win streak. Edgeworth is also emotionally closed off, which is often true for ISTJs. When his childhood friend Phoenix Wright attempted to contact him, Edgeworth was very hesitant to connect.
ISTJs have high levels of integrity. While Miles Edgeworth didn’t consistently demonstrate this quality, often doing anything for a win, his conscience got the better of him eventually.
During the trial of Will Powers, he forced his witness to tell the truth, thus losing the case. After quitting but later returning to law, Edgeworth saw significant success due to his hard work and determination.
Mikasa Ackerman - Attack on Titan
Mikasa Ackerman had a traumatic start in life when her parents were murdered. She was adopted by Girsha and Carla Yeager and lived alongside their son, Eren. Her clans of origin were heavily persecuted, so she knows how it feels to be oppressed and an outsider. True to her ISTJ personality type, Mikasa routinely hides her feelings and is rather stoic, even in the worst situations.
ISTJs are incredibly honest, and Mikasa is no exception. For example, Mikasa is honest with her adoptive parents about Eren’s plans to join the Scout Regiment, even though Eren wants to hide the truth. ISTJs see no place for lies, even white lies.
Mikasa is also incredibly loyal, another ISTJ personality type. Of course, this loyalty is given to family members. However, she’s also loyal to her peers, not changing her attitude and outlook even when her Azumabito roots are revealed.
Genos - One-Punch Man
While Genos is a Cyborg, he shows many human traits of the ISTJ personality type. Like many ISTJs, Genos is very serious. He’s also disciplined and reliable. Genos is the disciple of Saitama. Although Genos has a high level of respect for Master Saitama, he also is a hard worker and feels that Saitama had to put in relatively little effort to gain his powers.
This is typical of an ISTJ. At the same time, Saitama has significant influence and strength. As a hard-working, determined ISTJ, Genos tries to emulate the skills he sees in Saitama.
Genos can be emotionless, even hostile and rude. While most ISTJs don’t exhibit these more toxic attributes, they do tend to be emotionally closed off. Genos demonstrates this when he refuses to open up to anyone but Saitama and Dr. Kuseno, who performed the life-saving operation on Genos that turned him into a cyborg.
In fact, Genos can be downright rude and standoffish to others, especially those he feels get too close to Saitama. This also reflects on his feelings of loyalty toward Saitama and a desire to protect him.
Teru Mikami - Death Note
Like Miles Edgeworth, Teru Mikami is a prosecutor, which further cements this profession as one ideal for ISTJs. Many ISTJs choose careers in law and justice because of their need to uphold rules and regulations and their intense desire to reveal the truth.
Even as a child, Mikami had a strong sense of justice, becoming the Class President at his school because he was concerned about bullying problems. As the bullying problems got worse, more of Mikami’s ISTJ traits came to the surface. He began to have a concrete view of the world, seeing everyone as either good or evil, with no in-between.
This viewpoint contributed to Mikami later becoming a follower of Kira, who he believed to be truly good. “Kira” was the pseudonym for Light Yagami. When Mikami discovered this, he protected Light’s identity.
Mikami is a typical ISTJ, taking the burden and responsibility in what he perceives as serious situations. He holds on to the second Death Note to take the heat off of his leader.
